6 Unnecessary Items I Took Out Of My Budget For Good
Sticking to a budget is, of course, one of the most basic lessons of personal finance. If you don’t know where your money is going each month, finding more ways to save and optimize your income is going to be all but impossible. Planning ahead doesn’t mean eliminating spontaneity and unexpected spending — it just means preparing as best as you can for any expense, regardless of whether it seems frivolous or “serious.”
That being said, blindly following a budget is downright silly. Maybe your budget from five years ago still works for you, but chances are, you need to regularly revisit your spending to see where you are actually putting your money. In this week’s episode of The Lifestyle Fix, Tasha walks us through the top six things she’s cut from her budget and definitely doesn’t miss. For instance: manicures, acrylics, and gel nails. Tasha spent her weekends growing up watching the grown women around her get their nails done, and once she had her first steady job, going to the salon just seemed like “what you do.” But over time, she realized it just wasn’t important to her — and spending upwards of $40 a month on something out of habit just seemed like a waste of money.
Of course, manicures specifically might be important to you, and that’s okay! The point is to regularly check in with your budget to see that all of your “extra” spending actually benefits your life, and not some version of your life you think you’re “supposed” to be living. Head over to the TFD YouTube channel to hear what else Tasha cut from her budget!
