Every week, we’re participating in #totalhonestytuesday, sharing the things we’d usually keep off of social media, and giving a little more insight into our real (and very un-perfect) lives. Hopefully, in doing this, we can all feel a little less pressure to appear a certain way online, and remember that everyone around us is much more than just the highlight reel we normally see.

Today is my inaugural, @thefinancialdiet inspired #totalhonestytuesday post about traveling for work. I thought it was going to be super glamorous and fun and it is fun; but it's also kind of lonely and I miss having a kitchen to cook in. Here's to the next two weeks of living out of a suitcase and off of a mini-fridge!

#totalhonestytuesday tonight I baked my first batch of cookies since moving to Germany and they turned out so unexpectedly perfect and delicious. I've eaten 3 and could easily finish all of them. #fatfluential (Peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal, if you're taking notes)

#totalhonestytuesday: I have been so so bad about eating out in the last two weeks, so this week I decided it'd be a good exercise to give up going out to eat entirely. To force myself to make good food, I've been leafing through cook books and I'm going to ~attempt~ to make a Julia Child recipe tonight! (Just to be clear, I'm going to make a soup, not bone a duck.)

Here's a totally meta #totalhonestytuesday post: I wrote about the financial cost of losing weight over on @thefinancialdiet today. I was nervous about publishing because only a handful of people in my real life even knew I was losing weight. (Shout out to my friends & family for their support & discretion!) When I started, I didn't know if I was going to succeed. I didn't know how to reconcile my belief in the body positivity movement & my place in its community if I did succeed. I kept this mostly to myself, fearing that people wouldn't understand. And then this post went live today, & so many people have understood. Thank you to TFD for providing me an outlet to share something scary & to perpetuate my obsession with budgeting.

Pretty sure I could have gotten out of here at a reasonable hour if I had just focused, but I have to resort to 5 PM iced americanos because I was too distracted all day by the elections. Also not editing out that lipstick stain on my straw because it's #totalhonestytuesday @thefinancialdiet
