Every week, we’re participating in #totalhonestytuesday, sharing the things we’d usually keep off of social media, and giving a little more insight into our real (and very un-perfect) lives. Hopefully, in doing this, we can all feel a little less pressure to appear a certain way online, and remember that everyone around us is much more than just the highlight reel we normally see.
#totalhonestytuesday the TFD shop launched today, and although I'm so proud of Lauren's amazing work and our beautiful products, the truth is that it's our way to have our community help support us and therefore it feels a bit like begging. It's sad that "paying for things on the Internet" has gotten to the point where it feels weird asking for support from people who read your stuff every day, but there we are. I feel a bit like I'm shaking a can at the Internet, checking every hour to see what's being bought, and it's not the greatest feeling in the world. 😖

#totalhonestytuesday working from home is great and all, until you realize you haven't been outside in over 48 hours, and you've managed to wear your pajama shirt for 24 hours straight. It's too easy to fall into a hermit crab routine, which leaves me feeling a bit isolated. Finally getting out 👏🏻🍁

Taking a break from posting the highlight reel of my life and sharing something less glamorous. Trips to Europe don't pay for themselves and I refuse to sacrifice my emergency fund savings to speed up the trip saving process, so, side hustle it is. If you order a Favor in Austin, you might get so lucky to find me on your doorstep. 🎀#totalhonestytuesday

#totalhonestytuesdayregram from @leigh.vanhooser Don't forget to share (and tag us in) your #totalhonestytuesday! Here's what she had to confess. * Lately, I've been looking to make positive changes in my life, rid myself of negativity and begin to set goals for my mental, physical and spiritual self. The supermoon upped my desire. It will be a lifestyle and mindset change that will take time, and I will make mistakes.

tonight some dude was on my balcony bc he & his dipshit friend got locked out on top of the roof. he climbed down to my balcony to get help and he was literally a peeping fucking tom staring into my window, seeing me pantsless, in my own bedroom. I grabbed Ava, mid face-mask, sent the dog out there & was reassured it was just dumbasses not criminals. though the whole 3min interaction ended up being harmless, it conjured up the same fight or flight response that I had when I was sexually assaulted. after calming down from the trigger itself, I got pissed about the the dangerous, misogynistic bullshit that's endlessly present in the lives of survivors of sexual assault. now, more than ever is the time to speak up & share these stories. so here's a selfie showing off my fresh set of nails & fave velvetine lipstick with my pinot noir, as I buckled in to share with you my #totalhonestytuesday post #youoksis #sexualassaultawareness #redmylips #girlpower #speakup #dontbeanasshole #believewomen

#totalhonestytuesday time: this last week or so I have been feeling irrationally overwhelmed. I can't quite put my finger on precisely why… This is my last #JollyGood cream soda from my mom's visit, by way of Wisconsin. Today I needed some comfort and a taste of home. So at 10:30pm, I cracked my last baby open, took some deep breaths, and sipped on some nostalgia. I still feel overwhelmed for no easily identifiable reason, but slightly soothed. #financialdiet #creamsoda #nostalgia #feelings #selfcare

#totalhonestyTuesday I've worn glasses since I was 4. I used the detest them. Now, I prefer them to my contacts most days. The brighter, the better. Not to mention, wow – my eyes are grey here. Also, crazy busy days at work mean I meant to post this last week when I took it. #nofilter #latergram #lovemyzennis

So I've never done #totalhonestytuesday before, but I've admired many of the posts shared through @faganchelsea and @thefinancialdiet sooo here we go… I struggled with posting anything about weight loss, because it feels so vein and attention seeking. But! I've also come to acknowledge that though the first big drop was breakup weight, the second drop (and rise and drop and rise and drop, etc.) was learning I could cook/meal prep every meal for myself, learning I could run a mile (at all) but in 7:33 mins none the less, and learning that I could then keep running off and on for 7 miles, without needing a paramedic. I'm posting this to be vulnerable, awkwardly acknowledge my own hard work, annnnd to hopefully encourage anyone else that's feels like they're stuck or failing. If I can lose 18 pounds (just in time for Thanksgiving)- you can accomplish your goals too! May every day be your January 1st 🙌

Stress hot cocoa required to watch the #election2016 roll in. This follows up stress brownies. I wish I didn't feel compelled to use food/drink as a coping mechanism when I'm stressed or sad (or just bored) but tonight is not the night I'm choosing to work on this issue of mine. #totalhonestytuesday . . . #millennialblogger #mentalhealthblogger #anxietyprobs #stresseating #imwithher #lovetrumpshate

An election edition of #totalhonestytuesday: I took this after phone banking for the California Democrats on Sunday. I'd given money to campaigns before and I've proudly voted in every election I've been eligible for, but this was my first time actually giving my time to a candidate. And I'm kicking myself for not having done it sooner. A campaign is only as good as the people who give their time to it, and I had the best one on Sunday. So not only did I #EarnTheMixtape, but I saw first-hand the class with which the Clinton campaign conducts itself. I've never been prouder to be #WithHer and I may or may not have cried a little in the voting booth today.

Instagram is usually fun for me, and it's also a #highlightreel of the best parts of my life, the best parts of my day, and the things I'm most proud of. ⠀ ⠀ It rarely feels like work, but sometimes I feel as though I need to magnify my success to somehow prove my worth as an educator, or justify my place in the world. I'm working to grapple with my imperfections and to recognize the tender spots where I feel most vulnerable. ⠀ ⠀ If you're struggling with something similar, know that you're not alone. The hustle is exhausting, and social media can sometimes be a nagging voice that you're not _______ enough (pretty enough, thin enough, successful enough, loved enough, spontaneous enough, active enough – you fill in the blank). ⠀ ⠀ I challenge you (and myself!) to remember that perfection is not the same as being "whole." There's tremendous value in imperfection. It means you're still evolving, still learning, still growing. Allow yourself the space to be flawed. You're in good company.⠀ (📷 via @gracedchin)⠀

If you are pre-paying for a service you better use it. Gym: I joined the gym in September. Went every week. Skipped all of October. Money = Waste. That stops now! Entertainer App: I bought it so that I could save money when going out to eat but I haven't used it as much as I should have. So if you have paid for something in full and you are not using it for what it's worth. Now should be the time to start. #nospendnovember #nospend #savemoney #debtfree #totalhonestytuesday #thefinancialdiet

#totalhonestytuesday I bought this expensive, "hip" pair of raw denim jeans thinking they would be the solution to my pants problems. They are incredibly uncomfortable for a curvy gal like me. Now after three months, I'm selling them and going back to my Levi's. They may not have that cool factor but they don't have the pain factor either. @thefinancialdiet
