Facing the work week head on is not always easy. Some Monday mornings, I wake up feeling like I got punched in the face, and it takes me a solid 20 minutes to adjust to the light coming in through the window. (We still don’t have curtains up in our bedroom, so light begins pouring in at a cool 6:30 AM.) FYI, today went fine, but I know myself and I know we’ve all been there. Sometimes, it takes an extra cup of coffee or an extra boost of motivation to light a fire under our butts; once you get rolling, it’s much easier to keep up the pace. If you’re in need of a little Monday inspiration, that’s exactly what I’ve got for you today!
There are literally infinite of pages of pOweRfUL quotes online that one can sift through, which catalog the words of famous women across a number of topics. While a good deal of these have been turned into
corny aspirational Pinterest quotes, I think the words do retain their value. Some of these snippets of wisdom make me think about life and work more deeply, and they help me to understand what I want for myself and how to get there. The quotes that always stick with me are the ones about finding your voice, working hard, and choosing a path for yourself. Personally, I think a lot of people feel pressure to decide what they want to do with their lives, and the older I get, the more I understand that you don’t have to choose one thing.
There are so many wonderful and talented women I know who don’t possess just one set of skills, but rather many. They spread their resources and abilities across a number of projects and platforms, and I truly admire them. To put yourself in a box and decide on your Future Path is too much pressure for anyone to handle.
We’ve written a lot here on TFD about following your dreams, finding your own voice, and about some of the side effects of pursuing your career goals. Our diverse community of voices and experiences illustrate just how different all of our paths are, and that there is no right or wrong way of doing things. To me, what’s most important is that you stay positive, and remember to always dream big. Below, I’ve rounded up 10 inspiring quotes that talk about everything from one’s career, building confidence, finding your voice, and working hard to get where you want to be. Check it out!
Keep on that Monday #grind ya’ll, and don’t forget to tackle each day as it comes.
When I wake up, I try to visualize the ways I can push myself over the next 12 hours. While I’m not always successful at meeting those goals, I think that simply creating them is a great place to start.
(P.S., if you need more fodder for Monday ass kicking, here you go.)
